Dunyavi Roma (Gypsy) Dance with Skirt
Friday 1:00-3:00pm $45 pre-reg, $50 at the door Dunyavi means “World”. This is one of Dalia’s signature art forms that she created in 1979, the name and the movement!. In this workshop, Dalia is fusing Turkish Roman, and Spanish Dance into one form. Turkish Roman hand gesturing and foot work are combined with Flamenco arms, skirt work and posturing. Dalia will be also be educating dancers how to count and dance in 9/8 Karsilama rhythm whilte dancing with a skirt to feel comfortable dancing in Dalia's unique style. Full skirts are required without slits. Flamenco Araby with Abinco -(Spanish Dancing Fan) Saturday 1:00-3:00pm $45 pre-reg, $50 at the door Dalia has been dancing with an Abanico since the late 70s. She has developed a unique teaching style that makes a dancer leave the workshop feeling like they can dance with the fan with ease (also tips for practicing). In this workshop, Dalia will go over basic fan technique, and keep progressing with more challenging movements. The movements will be a combination of Arabic dance and fiery and flirtatious Spanish fan and Latin Caribbean skirt movement. Please bring a fan that open and closes. If you need to purchase a large Spanish dance fan, we will have some links for you here shortly. Turkish Roman Traditional Technique without Skirts - Sunday 1:00-3:00pm $45 pre-reg, $50 at the door A must for everyone who loves this dance style! In this class, the focus will strongly be on how to dance to Turkish 9/8 Romani Karsilama Traditional Rhythms. These rhythm are all about the organic feeling that is sometimes challenging for dancers around the world. Dalia’s technique simplifies this dance style. The student will be able to assimilate the hand gesturing, foot work and the unique Romani feel to grasp this style. The focus in this class is learning how to dance with the pelvis and enjoying working with all the Turkish Romani hand gesturing that Dalia has learned and developed for decades now. |
Dalia's Bio
Dalia Carella is a renowned Near/Middle Eastern and world fusion solo artist, choreographer, master teacher, and the Founder/Artistic Director of the Dalia Carella Dance Collective. For many decades, Ms. Carella has delved deeply in Near Eastern/Dance Oriental Bellydance and Turkish Roman dance, as well as Flamenco, Indian, Bollywood/Bhangra, Afro-Haitian, Samba, Salsa, Afro-Puertorican (Bomba and Plena), Tango and Western dance such as jazz and ballet. Ms. Carella’s numerous concerts and teaching tours have led her throughout the US, Canada, England, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, China, Turkey, and Japan. In 1978 till present, besides Dalia's unique technique of Oriental Dance (Belly Dance) and traditional Turkish Roman, Dalia also created two art forms on the Middle Eastern Dance circuit called El Mundo/Flamenco Araby (Belly Dance, Latin Caribbean, Flamenco) and Dunyavi Romani (Turkish Roman, Flamenco and Indian). Dalia is also the co-producer with Dwebb Designs of their popular sold out Immersive Dance Experience Shows in New York City called“Menagerie d’Arte.”
