Deep Dive: Improve Your Posture, Improve Your Dance

The power of our dance starts in the middle: the spine. Access the muscles surrounding the spine to level up your dance technique. Using yoga and Pilates techniques you’ll discover the upper back, mid-back and core muscles used to attain/maintain proper dance posture while belly dancing but specifically FCBD®-style. From a proper dance posture you can safely perform deep body waves and laybacks. From a proper dance posture sidewinders and chest lifts/circles are easier to access.
This will be an interactive workshop including adjustments (if requested) by Grace. Bring a yoga mat and other props, if you have them, including a yoga strap, blocks and foam roller (any size). Wear comfortable yoga clothes. You’ll also leave with a few simple drills and exercises to help keep strengthening the muscles along your spine.
Dancing in the Flow®
$35 through 6/21, $40 after
Flow is dancing in the divine subconscious. All Dance and No Talk! Perfect for all students who just need "empty brain time" to dance and get the steps into muscle memory. No verbal instruction, no partners or formations, just follow along and bliss out. Twenty minute intervals with 5 minute water breaks between. During first 20 minutes the struggle to just let go is real. The next 20 minutes brings you closer physically and mentally closer as your muscles warm up and your brain starts to let go. The final 20 minutes is you dancing in your full bliss, oblivious to everything else. A basic knowledge of FCBD-style® vocabulary is helpful but not necessary as Flow is in a follow the leader style with plenty of repetition.
Grace has over 25 years experience in movement including being an ACE certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer, Stott-Pilates certified instructor and over 200 hours in yoga workshops and trainings as well as over 200 hours in FCBD®style training. She has been a FCBD®-style Sister Studio since 2014.
